Does Stingblade Really Work Against Jellyfish Stings?

Over the summer, Stingblade has been scaling into new boundaries. From the Sting Station in Mallorca to signing up new partnerships across the Balearics and beyond, we come bearing a solution to the jellyfish sting.

As we introduce ourselves, we’re often asked the same question, “Does Stingblade really work against jellyfish stings?”

So, let’s break it down.

An innovation that was born after Mark Dyer aka Captain Stingblade’s frustration of years of being stung, Stingblade was created with both the ocean and ocean lovers in mind. From fishing nets sourced from the Cornish coast through to manufacturing, it is a Made in Britain product. In addition to Stingblade’s manufacturing, our design journey is a testament to the meticulous care for its construction, accessibility, and sustainability.

Does Stingblade really work against jellyfish stings?

Recently, we carried out a direct comparison with another brand on the market to answer this question.

Both products work using the same basic mechanism: scraping jellyfish barbs from the skin. And while both rely on the edge of the tool, the comparison revealed a stark difference.

Stingblade is finished with a titanium edge, while the curved edge on the other brand seems to be a dull alternative. The difference continued through to the handles as well. As compared to the alternate brand’s flat handle, Stingblade has a sturdy, ergonomic grip that is also buoyant to use when in the ocean. It can also be noted that both the variants of Stingblade are accessible for mid-ocean access or for mounting on boats. A feature that seems to be lacking in the other brand.

But we didn’t stop there.

We wanted to see how Stingblade performed on an actual jellyfish sting. The result speaks for itself when comparing a jellyfish sting treated with Stingblade versus one left untreated:

Stocking Stingblade as a retailer

We are also excited to announce that Stingblade has been working against jellyfish stings by expanding the distribution network.

Over the last month, we have onboarded new distributors across the South of France. Stingblade is now available at AD Nautic, Antibes Ship, and Midi Mini Market and can be purchased at these locations.

We are always looking for new distributing partners to join us in making jellyfish sting removal tool more accessible, and thereby stock Stingblade in their own stores, boats, marinas, or businesses.

Our distribution model is simple. We onboard partners on a sale-or-return basis. Meaning you receive a percentage of every unit sold, while any unsold stock can be returned to us. This means there’s no financial risk or obligation associated with stocking Stingblade under our sale-or-return model.

Our goal is simple, to make the ultimate jellyfish sting solution accessible to as many people as possible.
